President Prabowo Arrives in London for Strategic High-Level Meetings

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia and the United Kingdom are set to deepen their partnership as President Prabowo Subianto begins a working visit to London.
Arriving at London Stansted Airport on Sunday, January 18, 2026, the Indonesian President was welcomed by Deputy Lieutenant of Essex Mark Bevan and Foreign Secretary’s Special Representative Adele Taylor MBE, according to an official statement from the Presidential Secretariat on Monday, January 19, as reported by
Antara.Also welcoming President Prabowo were Indonesian Ambassador to the UK Desra Percaya, British Ambassador to Indonesia Dominic Jermey, and Indonesian Defense Attaché to the UK Colonel Inf. Wiyata S. Aji.
During his visit, President Prabowo is scheduled to meet British Prime Minister Keir Starmer at the Prime Minister’s Office, a key moment to strengthen dialog and cooperation across strategic sectors. He is also set to hold an audience with King Charles III at St. James’s Palace.
Indonesia and the UK have maintained diplomatic relations since December 1949, steadily evolving into a mutually beneficial strategic partnership. Current cooperation spans priority areas ranging from economic growth to global issues of shared concern.
The new strategic framework rests on four pillars: economic growth; climate, energy, and nature; defense and security; and people-to-people ties.
